So this is one that I have wanted to paint for a while. I really liked this monkey that my mother and I found in a great antique store called Orphan Annies. Everyone that comes in my studio has had an opinion about it before it was even painted. I needed to paint it though and I'm glad I did.

I do understand why creative minds need to break free from their own molds, no matter how pleasing or successful they are. If we are not stretching, not trying new things, what does that make us? Machines?
DD and I saw the revival of "Sunday in the Park with George," this summer, in which Sondheim tackles similar issues.
That said, I am looking forward to more of your flowers. ;)
